The Classic Safari Experience
There is no place in the world quite like Africa. And when it comes to Africa's great wildlife destinations, Tanzania is difficult to rival.
The endless plains of the Serengeti, the extraordinary concentration of wildlife within Ngorongoro Crater and the annual movement of the Great Migration have made northern Tanzania legendary. Yet the finest safaris are about more than simply reaching these famous places.
African Environments has been based on the ground in Arusha for almost four decades. We operate our own specially equipped safari vehicles, our own camps and work with experienced driver-guides who know Tanzania intimately.
Our aim is to recreate the spirit of the classic safari: travelling away from the crowds wherever possible, taking time to follow the wildlife and returning to camp for cold drinks, great food and stories around the fire.

Safari Without the Rush
Because African Environments is based in Tanzania and family owned, we can be as flexible as our guests need us to be.
A classic safari with us isn't built around racing between destinations or following a convoy of vehicles from one sighting to the next. We aim to move away from the busiest safari traffic wherever possible and give each journey room to unfold naturally.
In the Serengeti, that might mean leaving camp before dawn with coffee and freshly made breakfast biscuits, then returning later for a big breakfast. On another day, you may travel further afield with one of our picnic lunches and spend the entire day following the wildlife.
Your guide is there throughout the journey, using years of experience and local knowledge to shape each day. Wildlife cannot be scheduled—and we believe the best safaris shouldn't be over-scheduled either.
At the end of the day, return to camp for a cold drink, a roaring fire and dinner beneath the African sky. For us, these quiet moments are as much a part of safari as the wildlife itself.
