Walking Safaris

The walking experience

For those looking for a unique and active safari experience, a walking safari provides a welcome break to sitting in a vehicle for your entire adventure. African Environments recommends adding three to four days of walking in amongst a traditional safari for those with an adventurous spirit. Although active, the walking sections can be designed with your group in mind, therefore walking only as much as you wish.

While walking you will pick up on the smells and sounds of the bush, have the opportunity to stalk wildlife, search for tracks and mix with indigenous cultures. It is a great opportunity to focus on the eco-system of the wild, and really be part of it!

African Environments offers various walking safari itineraries with the Hadza, Maasai and in the Wilderness Area of the Serengeti, or can design something that best suits the group.

“We drove, we watched, we laughed, we walked, we talked, we met, we learnt, we ate (far too well), we discovered, we drank (great Cosmos!), then we laughed a lot again …… to get a group of 10 very different people of different age groups to do all that together and have the time of their lives was no mean feat! But African Environments did it with style and panache. The highlights for me were walking in the wilds of the Serengeti and the time spent with the Hadzabe tribe …. But so many unforgettable memories… thank you once again”
