Tanzania Family Safari

Designed Around You, At Your Pace

Travelling with multiple generations is one of life’s greatest gifts.

Grandparents watching grandchildren discover wildlife for the first time. Parents relaxing knowing everything is taken care of. Children learning directly from nature instead of screens. Shared laughter around the campfire. Stories that will be told for decades.

These are the moments that matter – and we understand just how precious they are.

African Environments is a family-owned company, and safari has always been part of our own family story. Our directors raised their children in the bush, and now the grandchildren are growing up visiting camps too. Because of this, we truly understand the dynamics of travelling as a family – the different energy levels, the need for flexibility, and the importance of creating experiences that work for everyone.

That’s exactly why this safari works so beautifully.

Your journey is completely tailored around your family. There is no rigid schedule, no pressure to keep up with other guests, and no “one size fits all” approach. Instead, you set the rhythm of each day – whether that means relaxed mornings for grandparents, shorter game drives for younger children, or longer wildlife adventures for the enthusiasts in the group.

Our guides and camp teams are wonderfully experienced with children of all ages and are naturally warm, patient, and engaging. Our exclusive-use camps mean you always have privacy, flexibility, and one-to-one attention.

This is safari the way it should be – effortless, personal, and unforgettable for every generation.

Full itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive in Tanzania and transfer to your peaceful base at Itikoni Camp, nestled in nature on the outskirts of Arusha.

Depending on arrival time, the day is yours to relax, recover from travel, and settle into the African pace of life. Children can explore, grandparents can unwind, and everyone begins to slow down.

Day 2 – Gentle Adventures in Arusha National Park

Today is a perfect introduction to safari – relaxed, beautiful, and flexible.

Activities can include:

  • Game drives with giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and monkeys
  • A picnic lunch near a waterfall where children can paddle and play
  • A short guided walk (optional and age-dependent)

The day unfolds entirely around your family’s energy levels and interests.

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, journey to Tarangire, famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds.

You’ll stay at Tarangire Safari Lodge, where the swimming pool overlooking the wilderness is always a highlight – especially for children.

Afternoon options might include:

Sundowners with sweeping savannah views

Pool time and relaxation

An evening game drive

Day 4 – Tarangire at Your Family’s Rhythm

  • Time to simply enjoy being together

There is no rush – only discovery.

Day 5 – Ngorongoro Highlands

Time Together

Travel into the beautiful highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to your exclusive-use base at Mysigio Camp.

This is often a favourite stop for multi-generational families – a place to slow down, connect, and enjoy meaningful experiences together.

  • Maasai cultural experiences
  • Gentle walks
  • Relaxed time at camp
  • Evenings around the fire sharing stories

Everything is optional and paced around your family.

Day 6 – Journey to the Legendary Serengeti

Serengeti National Park

Enjoy a relaxed morning before travelling toward the Serengeti, with a scenic game drive through the Ndutu region to break up the journey.

Arrive at your private wilderness home, Pembezoni Tented Camp.

Having your own camp is a game-changer for families:

  • Flexible meal times
  • Space for children to explore safely
  • One-to-one attention from your guide and crew
  • No other guests – just your family
  • Complete privacy and comfort

You set the pace. We make it happen.

One more full day to enjoy the Serengeti at your own rhythm.

Some families choose:

  • A sunrise drive followed by brunch
  • A slower morning with children
  • A full adventure day
  • Time simply being together in nature

You decide – we’re all in.
