Zanzibar Island |

|
Zanzibar, a part of the United Republic of Tanzania, is a series of many islands, the main ones being Unguja and Pemba. The more populated of the two main islands, Unguja, is better known as Zanzibar Island and is home to Stone Town a historic, bustling city of narrow alleyways and stone coral buildings. In addition to the two main islands, there are many other islands and islets in the Zanzibar archipelago which stretches from the top of Pemba to the south point of Unguja. Zanzibar has lured traders and explorers for centuries. Primarily it was the Arabs who sailed the Monsoon Winds from Oman to trade in ivory, slaves and spices; now the Island of Spice dotted with Arab ruins, fragrant spice plantations and unspoiled beaches lures travel weary holiday makers to her beautiful shores. Wander Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar explore the narrow twisting streets dotted with grand old houses, mosques and markets and discover Zanzibar’s colourful history. Tour the island’s hidden treasures such as Jozani Forest famous for one of Africa’s rarest primates the Zanzibar red colobus, or Kizimkazi well know for dolphin viewing and home to the oldest mosque on the island -possibly in all of East Africa. Dive living reefs or wrecks in clear, warm water then relax on a beach washed by the Indian Ocean and savour the tantalizing flavours of the coast. Zanibar a scenic gem with a colourful history is the perfect finish to a great adventure safari
