If you are very pressed for time after your climb, you could do one of these very short safaris to nearby National Parks so you won't leave Africa without seeing the plains and the outstanding wildlife. Below is a 1 night/2 day excursion, and a 2 night/3 day excursion. If you would like a slightly longer trip, combine them.

1 NIGHT/2 DAY EXCURSION Tarangire and/or Manyara National Park

Day 1 - Pick- up at your hotel in Arusha 8:00 am. Drive 1 1/2 hrs to Tarangire National Park then game drive for the entire day. Stay in the Tarangire Safari Lodge, a permanent tented camp inside the Park. Picnic lunch

Day 2 - Game drive for the day around the Park, or you may choose to drive 1 1/2 hrs to Lake Manyara National Park for a picnic lunch before the 1 1/2 hr drive back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha 5:00pm

2 NIGHT/3 DAY EXCURSION Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara National Park

Day 1 - Leave Arusha at 8:00 am and drive 3 1/2 hrs to the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way visit Lake Manyara National Park and have a picnic lunch by the lake. Arrive at Ngorongoro Serena Hotel, or one of our Luxury Tented Camps in the evening.

Day 2 - Get an early start and drive the 2000 feet down the wall of Ngorongoro Crater. Enjoy a full day on the Crater floor game viewing. Have a picnic lunch so you don't have to return to your lodge until the evening.

Day 3 - Today you can either spend another half day in the Crater or, you may choose to visit some of the local Masai people or go on a walk in the Crater Highlands. Leave the Ngorongoro Conservation Area after lunch to make it back to Arusha by 6:00 pm.
