Aims and Ideals

Our goal is to provide a safe, well organized, fun and educational experience for our clients. Our clients never feel they are on ‘just another climb or safari. Trips can be catered to individual interests and our guides have the scope to persue interests as they arise. While some may be interested in spending the afternoon observing elephant behavior, others may prefer to visit a Masai "boma". We do not restrict our guides and drivers to a certain number of Kilometers driven, or routes taken as many companies do.

Keeping services up to date and vehicles and equipment operating perfectly is a full time job in a place like Tanzania. We spend much of our time, money & effort upgrading and maintaining our camps and vehicles. We also continuously review itineraries to ensure that the areas and properties we visit offer the best experience and value for our clients. We consider it our responsibility to do the background work, so you can maximize your holiday.

It is equally important to us to have a socially responsible foreign owned company in Tanzania. Job security and advancement for Tanzanian staff is important. To aid in this we provide annual training courses and job reviews to help staff reach their full potential and to ensure that they can offer you flawless service and expertise. This, combined with fair salaries, has made African Environments if one of the most coveted companies to work for in Arusha.

Although there are many interpretations of "ecotourism" we feel that most importantly it means being respectful of the environment and of local cultures. At African Environment's we practiced ecotourism long before it became a "buzzword" and we have a broad understanding of the issues in Tanzania. We have discussed some of these issues in the "Ethics and Ecotourism Section" so you can educate yourselves.
