PERSONAL HISTORY

I was born in the year 1974 August 1st at Pare Mountain in Kilimanjaro region. I was raised in Pare Mountain till 1980 when I moved to Arusha town for going to school.   My father was a Pare from Pase mountain and my mother she is from Engasmet in Maasai and I first started climbing the mountain in 1988 in which attempt the first summit on Mount Meru , that is where the dreams of adventure  and out-door kicked in.

In 2007 I visited USA for 8 month in different states including Chicago in which I attended an open water diving course in Lake Michigan and volunteer in different houses for older peoples.

I speak English, Kiswahili and Pare

PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE

2002 – 2010  Trip leader  African Environments is an adventure company that provides mountain climbing and safaris in Tanzania, my duty is to organize client groups and provide information about safety to the clients. 

2001-2002  Assistant Trip Leader African environments. My job was to check clients’ special requests, to collect clients from the airport and brief them on what to expect on safari or on the mountain, give clients information about places, events, culture and history.  I also check that mountain equipment is working (e.g. oxygen tank is full and Gamow bag is working correctly) and ready to pack

1999   Head Guide, Assistant Guide, African Environments. My job was to make sure all equipment needed on the mountain was packed, check that the porters have the right gear.

1998  Porter.  My job was to carry camp facilities, fetch water, collecting fire wood and working as a team in the group

SKILLS AND TRAINING

I am a certified Wilderness First Responder and have over the past 10 years participated in various WFR and leadership courses run by the National Outdoor Leadership School (including courses run in Kenya).

I also hold a PADI open water SCUBA  license, which I obtained in the US in Lake Michigan.

In 2009 I was selected to act as an interpreter for a filming project by Tiger Aspeda (UK).  A section of the film was filmed in Maasai Land for which I acted as the interpreter between the film crew and Maasai.

I have attended various wildlife and environmental courses such as a course run by Professor Robert from NASA, on the weather systems of Mt Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti plains as well as the Mt Kilimanjaro Land Use and Environmental workshop, run in Arusha and sponsored by the French embassy.  This workshop included studying geographical features of Mt Kilimanjaro, population pressure in Mt Meru, urbanization and environment concern in Moshi, biodiversity on Kilimanjaro, ecology dynamics and evolution of vegetation on Kilimanjaro, farming system, methodology of religious archive, use of historical research for better tourism on Mt Kilimanjaro, springs and traditional irrigation, water policy and management.
