Equipment

SAFETY EQUIPMENT:  This is a priority at African Environments and we are the only company to equip all our Kilimanjaro climbs with Gamow hyperbaric bags and oxygen on the mountain.  In addition to having the equipment we have bi-annual guide trainings to ensure guides are up to date on the use of this equipment.

WATER FILTERS:  Clean water is critical to your health on the climb.  We supply a high volume commercial Katadyn water filters which can produce the vast quantities of clean drinking water your body requires for hard work at high altitudes.  Katadyn is the only water filter endorsed by the world health organization to guarantee pure water.

PERSONAL AND RENTAL EQUIPMENT:  Clients need to provide their own high altitude mountaineering equipment. A complete personal equipment List can be found under "preparing for your climb".  Because these specialized items can be expensive and difficult to find, African Environments has a range of high quality mountain wear for rent.  To rent a complete set costs $230 USD, specific clothing items can be rented as well.  An equipment rental list is provided on this site. You will need to provide your own boots and socks and we recommend carrying these items on the plane with you to ensure they do not get lost.
